Enjoying New Broadband Technology
There have been major advancements in broadband with a lot of new broadband technology in recent years. Most people that have the Internet connect using broadband. If you are one of these people you may think you have a system that works and are happy with it, so why would you want to consider changing suppliers?
Actually not all broadband is the same, if you’ve had broadband for the past year then you should be able to not only save money by swapping suppliers, but you should also be able to get a much higher speed. A 1MB Broadband connection costs about the same as a 256K link a year ago! It’s amazing how quickly things move along, the great thing is that the Internet is only going to get faster!
If your contract is nearly up then you should find it fairly easy to change suppliers and start getting your broadband from someone else. There are lots of different new broadband technology options available.
The main benefits that you will experience by switching suppliers are that you get a faster connection speed, and also a cheaper service. Many new services come with free extras such as free broadband routers, which are a great value.
Everybody is rushed off their feet these days, which means people don’t have enough time to wait for a website to load. This is why so many people are trying to switch their broadband provider to get a faster service.
But think before you leap. If you cancel your existing service without a backup plan in place, this will almost certainly leave you without Internet for a couple of days. The idea of missing a few days of e-mail and online time is too much for many people to bear, so they avoid the concept of switching to new broadband technology providers.
This is where it pays to do your research. Transferring your broadband connection to another company can be actually very similar to transferring your mobile phone contract. Your service is ported in a similar way. Broadband services will issue you with a MAC code; this allows the other supplier to quickly and easily transfer your services. This is a great way to change providers without the hassle. While there may be a little bit of down time, it could just be an hour or so before you’re back up and hopping.
If you can do everything with the MAC number then you should not manually cancel your existing contract, you should wait and let your new provider do everything for you. They will transfer your service and then should cancel the contract for you. Even though it is automatic it’s still a very good idea to check it’s been canceled!
If you try to cancel then your existing supplier may offer you a tempting deal to try and encourage you to stay, this could change your mind about wanting to swap! Listen to what they have to say, it may be worth it to stay and enjoy the new broadband technology any way you can.
