About Maxit Publishing | Publish With Maxit | Submission Guidelines

Maxit is seeking titles in the following categories: historic fiction, inspirational/religious (fiction and non-fiction), educational instruction and science fiction/fantasy. We accept multiple submissions and unsolicited manuscripts.

To have your work reviewed by our submission department, you must carefully follow the guidelines listed below.

First Step

Submit a cover letter, synopsis (no more than 10 pages, please) and the first 50 pages of your manuscript. If you wish to confirm that we have received your submission then send a self-addressed stamped postcard along with your submission and we'll acknowledge receipt of your work. The galley is not returned.

Our response time runs from 60 to 180 days from the receipt of your submission. If you don't hear from us after 6 months, it means we've rejected the submission.

Second Step

If you are fortunate enough to pique our curiosity, a letter of acceptance to review your entire novel will be sent by e-mail or by first-class mail via the postal service if you have enclosed a SASE.

Again, expect 60 to 180 days before we will respond to your submission. All manuscripts at this level of submission will receive either an acceptance or rejection. The galley is not returned.

Cover Letter

  1. Keep your letter to one page.
  2. Tell us about your background and why you wrote your masterpiece.
  3. In a line, give us a snapshot of what your story is about.
  4. Give us literary comparisons and points of reference; how is your story similar to other works in the genre you are pursuing? What makes it distinct?
  5. How is your novel or story a good fit for Maxit publishing?

Synopsis

  1. Do not exceed 10 pages.
  2. Lay out the story in a chronological format. Note the names of characters in uppercase (only for the synopsis). For instance, "MR. BAGGINS watched from a distance as SARA cried out in agony."

Galley Layout

Your galley must arrive in the following fashion to be considered for review. There are no exceptions.

  1. Use standard 8½ x 11-inch white paper. If you attempt to use glossy sheets, colored sheets or pages with unusual symbols then expect a quick rejection. Please, do not send us a floppy disk.
  2. Galleys must have a 1-inch margin on all sides, be double-spaced and use a readable font such as Times New Roman or Palatino. For instance, selecting Desdemona is a sure ticket that your manuscript won't be accepted. Make the reading as easy as possible on our editors.
  3. All pages of your novel must have the author's name, title of manuscript, date of submission and appropriate page number listed in the lower right corner of each page.

Hints

  1. The best way to approach Maxit is by reading some of our books and using some of our products.
  2. Be professional and follow the guidelines.
  3. If you are writing historical fiction make sure your material is very well researched. Our editors love sound research.
  4. Maxit gravitates to instructional/educational pieces that are informative and easy to understand for readers.
  5. Science fiction/fantasy should have well-developed characters and a well-structured plot. Be careful with humor, but it's very difficult to pull off well in this genre.
  6. In fiction and non-fiction, be careful not to use unidentifiable pronouns. For example, "Tom showed John a powerful talisman that caused him to faint." Who fainted? Be clear.
